This song is exemplary of Hata Aki’s [畑亜貴] style - extremely vague lyrics laden with imagery and pretty much incomprehensible.
To be honest, I wanted to give up on it, but I persisted with it for three reasons:
1. It’s a great learning opportunity - which would be even better if someone actually comments on the word choices I’ve made. I’m looking forward to that. Emails sent directly to me are fine too.
2. I’m not sure if it’ll ever get translated if I don’t do it (at least for some time). I’ve seen popular songs without translations for long periods of time (maybe even years).
3. This may sound silly, but I just want to finish something I started. Unlike many of the projects I have hanging around in midair.
For once I have to confess that I am not sure if this effort is exactly stellar - but all I can claim is that I did my best, and that I’m confident it’s not as bad as it can be (whether it can be better is a question for debate. I can’t decide objectively). Scant consolation, but…

Did this sometime in England. Just completed the touchup and formatting (the Word on my notebook has a major problem with line spacings; gotta get it sorted out. >.<) Until I started looping this song in England I thought the only D.C. song I liked was Andante, but this isn't bad at all, as far as songs go, though it isn't quite as good as Andante.

I sure took my time with this. I didn’t realize it was 95% complete, so I touched it up a little. I only JUST realized that someone already has one version up on Animelyrics.tv. Fortunately I’m pretty confident that it’s more polished, so I decided to upload this anyway.
I can’t exactly remember when in the show the song was played, but I’m pretty it was a rather emotional scene. I like Hitomi (the Kuroishi version) too - ever since I heard her songs from the PLANETES soundtrack. When I return to Japan this year I’ll see if I can track down some of the first presses in Akihabara - unopened ones if possible.

It must have been weeks since I began working on this song. It also holds the all-time record for the number of pieces of paper I used to translate it (four, including the printout).
How should I put it? This is one of the two songs (the other being ‘patch of blue sky’ which has no lyrics) that caused me to fall in love all over again with Ayako-sama. (Believe me the feeling is exceedingly overwhelming, and somewhat strange - with a sense of deja vu but also with the freshness of a new discovery.) I thought it would be fitting to translate it somehow, and for this song I adopted an approach that I do not normally use, which is to try very hard to stick to the form and flow of the song, and to make the translation actually match the music (not much point in that, but it somehow makes the translation look nice to me at least. ^^;)
Please support her by buying her album 「primary」! It’s the best fifty dollars I’ve ever spent. Or was it sixty? But who cares? I’d pay a hundred without a second thought for an unopened first press. And yes I’ll be buying that soon, or latest when I head back to paradise for a stint in November-December. How about you? ^^

At great pains and with great effort I finally finished the translation (after struggling with it on and off for months). I get the nasty feeling that I might have to keep editing this… but that’s for another time.
If anyone has any good ideas as to what on earth the random words inserted into the song mean, PLEASE TELL ME. Or else I might have to write to Hata Aki herself to clarify (and it’s not as if she’d reply, right? >.<)

This took a long while, but I managed to get this done. (I really should have been studying physics instead, though.) As usual, I tried to give this my best, and I’m fairly confident that it’s at least semi-waterproof (though possibly not airtight).
This also marks one of my bolder attempts at creative interpretation, so I’ll probably come back five months later and rage at myself for screwing up. Hopefully it doesn’t take that long for me to spot it.
As I haven’t shown this to anyone yet (since it’s really late) comments are even more welcome than usual.
Basically this is the OP of the new anime “sola”. Somehow or other the song makes me think of umbrellas. But that’s probably just the opening sequence. XD

I like both the OP and ED of sola very much, but since this song seems easier to translate I decided to get to it first.
