Quick musings.

Friday, February 16th, 2007

I realized that while many people seem to dislike me or even detest me many others seem to feel otherwise. In fact, some people I hardly know or hardly ever think about seem to think really well of me.

Sometimes I wonder if I deserve that, but nonetheless I’m thankful. Surely someone out there did nominate me for student council and I’m pretty sure they didn’t do it to get me into trouble. So… what can I say? A sincere thank-you, I guess.

Short Update

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

Hmmm.

Joined Alchemy club and went for 1 session. :D
Went to ‘help out’ (didn’t really do much =( ) at RJC Astrigue.
Improved form somewhat (at least my waist isn’t twisted the wrong way now)
Been caught up in a flurry of gift-buying and applying for various things.
Screwed up my MOE interview. (wow. actually, that wasn’t really surprising. I was being myself. ^_^;)
Somehow got into the strange habit of sleeping at 10+ and waking at 4+ (without an alarm clock)
Ended up dreaming about Ben Koh ordering me to call 16 people in 40 minutes and about making coffee.

Is this some kind of sign? ^^;

Oh well. I really need to get back to song translation. This idleness is like killing me.

内省の終わり/End of Self-Reflection

Sunday, February 4th, 2007

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation) there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too.”

“Lose this day loitering; t’will be the same old story tomorrow, and the next day more dilatory … Each indecision brings its own delays and days are lost lamenting o’er lost days … What you can do or think you can, begin it–boldness has genius, power and magic in it.”

– Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, 1749-1832

That sums up several days of self-reflection and discovery.

There’s another quotation I liked very much from a book I’ve read (but I have forgotten the title and the author), which is more compact, but also sums it up pretty well.

“Fortune favors the bold. I propose to be bold.”

Yep. That’s what’s been occupying me since yesterday. I mean Wednesday. Whatever.
