School and other matters

It’s been a while since I sort of officially began high school this year. Quite a fair bit has happened, and I guess I should sort of record them before I forget them somehow. (Hey this blog is meant to be some sort of proof of my existence in the first place anyway…)

In case anyone doesn’t already know (and is interested), my subject combination under the new retarded A level system is Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Japanese at H2 (or principal; equivalent to the old A2 level, or simply A level for those lacking an international perspective), plus General Paper and Project Work at H1 (or what used to be AS or AO levels). It’s quite a light load, but I must say that science practical work has already gotten on my nerves, just barely a few days into lessons.

So far lessons are fine since we aren’t exactly doing anything important, and Japanese has been a breeze. It does seem that my patchwork self-study and private classes have prepared me exceedingly well for the rigours of the curriculum. Or maybe the teacher’s just going easy on us. Or maybe its a bit of everything. (So far Changxing and I seem to be the only people to know what ‘Niigata-ken’ is…) In any case Japanese is for now something to look forward to. Also, I passed an oral ‘test’ today - as I didn’t take Japanese in the government monstrosity MOELC during secondary school the teacher was understandably not terribly confident in my abilities. After reading through 2 approximately level 2-equivalent comprehension passages he seemed to change his mind, though. And I guess my lengthy discourse on my CCA activities in junior high didn’t hurt either. ^^

As the folks on IRC will know, I am obssessed with a few things. Depending on how you look at it, it can be either one, two, three or up to five things. Ranked in order of importance:

1. RIE-SAMA!!!! (I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!!!!)
2. The two nations I have pledged my loyalty to (no prizes for guessing)
3. Green tea
4. Fried eggs
5. Porn (including talking incessantly about it on IRC)

Well you get the idea.

I’ll post more when I have time. ^^
