A short reflection
Out of a sudden whim I had Tainaka Sachi’s Saikou no Kataomoi run on loop for a bit, and I was suddenly reminded of why I felt COMPELLED to translate the song, badly as I did (apologies, people. >.<)
There is indeed something enthralling about the song. It is by no means perfect, but the imperfections seem to highlight the parts that ARE perfect, if you get my drift. As I reread my translation, I am both sad and relieved to say that I haven’t found any way to improve it further, but it does seem to leave me somewhat unsatisfied and aware of the fact that I am not really doing it sufficient justice with my translation.
Nevertheless, it seems that some people have seen my translation, and do like the song very much. Some have even kindly left comments (^^), and to be honest I do feel encouraged by those. When I started this translation business I didn’t really expect people to take me seriously since there are a considerable number of rather formidable translators already out there with blogs, but it seems that some did. I’ll continue to work at translation, and hopefully folks will keep reading them and not go away with a thought that I am myself guilty of often: “What a crappy piece of work.”
Thanks for reading! ^^
