Note:
[1] Although the Kanji character according to the official lyrics reads ‘hitomi’, meaning ‘pupil of the eye’, it is sung as ‘me’, or simply ‘eye’, in the song. However, please note that in literary usage ‘hitomi’ and ‘me’ are relatively interchangeable.

I wish to the clouds of sunset
That this letter would be delivered
If I could become that bird, now, I would return to you

If I should disappear,
Who would cry for me?
You are not alone;
Yes, forget your memories and live on

The pain of being born and the passing days
They change into mere scenery in the depths of my eyes
We ran on,
And noticed our mistakes
Halting our breath,
We return silently to the earth

Looking down on the street that so resembles a barren wasteland,
This hill too turns a madder-red [dark red] colour
As it always had been, tomorrow, somewhere,
Life is born, and disappears

Even the little frustrations and the flowing tears
Turn into memories in front of my eyes
We advanced ahead without suspicion,
Hurting each other, but began to notice the presence of kindness

Even the lost pride and dreams given up upon
Turn into that star when I close my eyes
We found the little answer
That would definitely, someday, save the future

The pain of being born and the passing days
They change into mere scenery in the depths of my eyes
We ran on
And noticed our mistakes
Halting our breath,
We return silently to the earth

Even the little frustrations and the flowing tears
Turn into memories in front of my eyes
We advanced ahead without suspicion,
Hurting each other, but began to notice the presence of kindness
